LEGAL AID
You may be eligible to apply for legal aid. If approved, the Legal Services Commission (LSC) will fund us to represent you. In some cases, they may ask you to contribute a small amount towards legal costs, usually between $50 and $70, depending on your financial situation.
If your application is approved, you’ll also need to comply with certain conditions set by Legal Aid.

If Your Application is Temporarily Rejected
Sometimes, legal aid applications may be rejected. This can happen for a few common reasons:
-
No real risk of imprisonment: The offence is considered very minor and unlikely to result in jail time.
-
Financial means exceed the threshold: Based on your income and assets, Legal Aid may believe you can afford private legal representation.
-
Incomplete financial details: Missing documents (e.g., Centrelink or bank statements) may delay or result in rejection until more information is provided.
If your application is rejected, we can assist you in reviewing or reapplying where appropriate.
